Birthplace of BJJ

I am finally back in Rio. It took me a year to come back. I am staying right in the middle of Rio, at the border between Copacabana and Ipanema, because there a range of different Academies to choose, just to name a couple, Felipe Costa’s, Terrere’s, Checkmat and DeLaRiva. For me as a lighter guy I went with Felipe Costa, but planning in dropping in at some other Academies.

Rio is Rio, chaotic but organised in his own way, and such a great place to be with all the good things, like beach, amazing food and much better weather than Europe!

If you choose Airbnb, be prepared that not everything works fine all the time, you have to deal with a 20 year old laundry machine and some Mosquitos. As Jujitsu guy that trains twice a day means a lot of laundry, so I go with hand wash to beat up my hands even more. Sure you can use that later in life!

The first Saturday I arrived, I got lucky and had an open mat from all the Brasa-Team of Rio. There were so many higher belts on the mat, it was just amazing! The only down thing is the heat, it takes some time to get used to it and the first day you will be drenched like nothing before. The experience to be able to do something like that is just unbelievable!
